A New Theory of Vision

A New Theory of Vision, by Bob Jude Ferrante, was performed at Kraine Theater March 18th through April 11, 2009. It was produced by Sanctuary: Playwrights Theatre.

Lee Krebs, professor of philosophy, specializes in the works of George Berkeley. When a bright but socially awkward young student proposes a simulation project that brings the philosopher back to life, Lee's ghosts are brought to life with it. A New Theory of Vision asks the question - What is reality? Am I sure everyone else lives in the same reality as me? If not, are bridges possible between individual realities? And how are we to do good? Moving between the real and the "virtual" worlds presented to us in art, into the virtual online world, and into the world present in the human mind, A New Theory of Vision asks us to question the unities of our own realities and the question of what it means to be truly human, and focuses these questions through the lens of a brand-new, surreal and poetic comedy.

"Parker keeps the pace moving and most of the time, the design is seamless and beautiful; and in the scenes set in the virtual world where Lee ends up, it is dazzling and appropriate."
