The
Directors' Roundtable is in a formulative stage, but is based on the idea
of providing networking opportunities, and resources to NYC directors.
HISTORY:
I've been a part of a director's online discussion group
for a number of years, and this forum has proved invaluable to me as a
place to network, ask questions, share my experiences and seek advice.
It also led to my first professional directing job. You can join this
discussion group here.
After moving to NYC, I met some of these directors in real life. Their
feedback has been very helpful to me, as I progressed through the experience
of directing in NYC. As Jon Jory says in his book "Tips: Ideas for Directors,"
getting tips from people in your line of work is incredibly helpful and
a fast disappearing resource.
FUTURE:
Now, I want to widen this group of directors, so that we
can increase the scope of networking to include more people, thus increasing
the amount of helpful feedback.
The Roundtable has met once and has begun to lay the foundation of our
mission and how best to fulfill it. Along with the networking, we want
to build a set of resources, perhaps online, that has info that is helpful
to NYC directors - rehearsal spaces, competent stage managers and crew,
etc. You can read the notes from our first meeting here.

from, the Directors
Roundtable, please contact me at admin@catparker.com.
